NoER runs entirely in the browser and saves the current project automatically, restoring it when the page is reopened. This copy exists only in that browser: to keep a backup, move to another computer or share the project, save it as a .er file.
Name, save and open
- Type the project name in the field at the top left of the navigation bar.
- Save in the toolbox (or Ctrl + S) downloads a
.erfile with the model, its translation state and the notes. - Open project (or Ctrl + O) loads a
.erfile. - New project asks whether to save the current project before opening an empty one.
Saved files take the project name followed by a suffix that shows the phase:
| Suffix | Saved from |
|---|---|
_c | Conceptual model (design phase) |
_r | Refinement phase |
_t | Translation and schema phases |
Examples
| Example | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Training institute | A one-to-many relationship between teachers and courses, nested composite attributes, multivalued and optional attributes. |
| Blog management | A total-exclusive generalization (review / tutorial), authors, comments, tags and a hierarchy of categories. |
| E-commerce | Private and business customers placing orders, product categories, and price quotes tracked over time. |
Notes
Every canvas has a Notes panel on the right. Use it to record the requirements, the translation strategies, decisions, and any other remarks. Notes are saved in the project file and can be exported as HTML.
