Translation is incremental: entities first, then relationships. At each step NoER shows only the patterns that fit the selected element, and the collections take shape on screen.
1. Translate the entities
Click Fix Entities, or select one entity and click Fix. Each entity becomes a collection where every document is one occurrence.
2. Translate the relationships
Each relationship can be translated with one of three levels of guidance:
| Level | The designer provides | NoER provides | In the app |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pattern display | The choice of pattern | The valid patterns, and applies the chosen one | Fix menu |
| Guided selection | Answers on access and updates | A suggested pattern with pros and cons | Fix → Tutor. See Guided selection |
| AI-driven translation | Workload assumptions | A plan for every relationship, with rationale and confidence | AI Tutor. See AI-driven translation |
All three apply the same patterns in the same way and can be mixed: obvious relationships can be translated directly, with guidance used only for the rest.
Pattern display
Select a relationship and click Fix. Then choose the pattern and the direction, which determines the target collection for the data.
| Button | Pattern |
|---|---|
| Embedded | Embed the related document |
| Reference | Store its identifier. Tick extra fields to get an extended reference. |
| Subset | Embed only some related documents and keep the rest in their own collection |
| Tree | Model a hierarchy with references between nodes |
| Bucket | Group events by time window or count, with a tutor to choose the criterion |
| Ternary | New collection with a reference to each of the three entities |
For an extended reference or a subset, a table lists the fields of the related collection. The identifier is always included; tick the other fields to copy, such as productName in ORDER, then click submit.
Optional participations
Embedding an entity that participates optionally can lose data: occurrences without the relationship have no document to live in. NoER shows a warning when this applies.
When every relationship is translated, the Done button becomes available. Reset undoes all translation choices.
